New deal signed for the establishment of a TikTok studio in Qatar; provide a platform for local content creators

NewsA memorandum of understanding was signed between the Qatar Government Communications Office and Tik Tok on the second day of the region's first Web Summit in Qatar. The new deal will lead to the establishment of a TikTok studio in Qatar. It will also provide a platform for local content creators. Sheikh Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani, Chairman of Web Summit Qatar, and Shadi Kandil, General Manager of Tik Tok Global Business Solutions, signed the agreement.
Sheikh Mansoor noted that the agreement is a step in the right direction to enhance Qatar's position as a continent creation hub in the region. Along with TikTok, other major social media platforms exhibiting at Web Summit Qatar include Snapchat and Meta.
At the opening of the Web Summit, Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, highlighted the importance of universal access to the Internet, especially in the Global South.
