NMOQ achieves Carbon Neutrality Certification for the reporting period of April 2022 to March 2023

The National Museum of Qatar (NMOQ) has obtained Carbon Neutrality Certification for the reporting period of April 2022 to March 2023, according to a statement released by Qatar Museums. This accomplishment is a testament to the museum's proactive commitment to sustainable management, which sets a model for other cultural institutions throughout the globe.

The Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD) partnership is essential to NMoQ's achievement of carbon neutrality. NMoQ created a thorough carbon neutrality strategy by identifying important areas for lowering greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and utilising GORD's experience in sustainability and climate change.

Strategic steps were taken by Qatar Museums' National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) to achieve carbon neutrality. Using energy-efficient technologies, encouraging recycling and waste reduction, encouraging sustainable transportation, encouraging eco-friendly behaviour among staff members, maximising water use, and carrying out a thorough carbon footprint assessment are a few of these. By demonstrating the museum's consistent commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, these extensive initiatives reinforce its position as a global leader in the administration of responsible cultural institutions.

In order to promote a more comprehensive low-carbon transformation of Qatar's economy, this proposal entails expanding comparable projects to other museums. It is expected that the certification given to NMoQ would encourage future projects in Qatar to include carbon neutral certification in their ESG plans.

NMoQ has been accredited with other esteemed sustainability certifications in addition to its carbon neutrality certification. These honours highlight NMoQ's leadership in sustainability and its continuous commitment to sustainable business practices. They include worldwide recognitions for sustainable building design, operations, and environmental excellence.
