News EventThe seventh season of the top competition, which begins tomorrow at the Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) Indoor Arena, has its itinerary released by the Longines Hathab - Qatar Equestrian Tour organising committee. The 14-round Hathab Tour, which is co-hosted by Al Shaqab and the Qatar Equestrian Federation and Modern Pentathlon (QEFMP), is scheduled to run through March 30, 2024, according to the schedule that was made public yesterday.
The 2023–24 season will see six rounds hosted in QEF's Indoor Arena and eight rounds, including the championship round on March 28–30, at the cutting-edge Longines Indoor Arena at Al Shaqab. The two Future Rider classes (6 to 12 years and 12 to 16 years) as well as the first rounds of the Small and Medium Tours will be held on Friday after tomorrow's dressage Dressage Medium (level 1) and Preliminary (Level 2) rounds. Following the Amateur and Open divisions on Saturday is the Big Tour.
After four straight rounds at QEF Indoor Arena, the opening round of the new season will be held at the Longines Indoor Arena at Al Shaqab from November 30 to December 2. Every season, more riders compete in Hathab thanks to the competition's expansion, which saw the addition of two additional future rider categories in addition to the amateur showjumping division in the most recent edition.
The top four finishers from the previous season were Qatari riders Faleh Suwead Al Ajami (Big Tour), Sultan Salem Al Nuaimi (Small), Mohammad Saeed Haidan (Medium), and Maryam Ahmed Al Boinin (Dressage Level 1). H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Shaqab, initiated the Hathab Tour in 2017 with the goal of fostering world-class talent and raising awareness of horsemanship as a component of Qatari culture and tradition.
