NewsThe public launch of The Dar Al Maghreb Pavilion, a temporary cultural venue in MIA Park honouring Morocco's rich legacy and inventiveness, was announced yesterday by the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture. Ksar Aït Benhaddou, a Unesco World Heritage site in Morocco that captures the spirit of ancient clay construction methods, served as the model for the 1,300-square-meter Pavilion. The programs during the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture include the Pavilion.
The public may learn about Moroccan culture and heritage through educational displays and on-site cultural activities at the Dar Al Maghreb Pavilion, which is free to enter. The Pavilion will have a tearoom and gift store where visitors may purchase handcrafted Moroccan items and savour sweet treats and traditional mint tea.
The Pavilion is split into four separate themed zones that give a unique look into Morocco’s history, culture, and vision for the future:
Land of Confluence: This area of the Pavilion presents Morocco as a meeting point of continents and civilisations, fostering communication and interaction between the East and the West as well as the North.
Land of Light: Reached via a typical Moroccan outdoor courtyard, this portion allows guests to immerse themselves in the rich cultural diversity of the nation through five distinct areas that showcase traditional Moroccan zellige tile flooring and wooden lattice ceilings crafted by Moroccan artisans.
Land of Gathering: This themed area honours Morocco's joyous spirit with everything from contemporary music events to classic horse exhibitions like Fantasia. Morocco's dedication to international discourse spanning sustainability and sport is shown by its role as host of major international events, like COP22 and the forthcoming 2030 World Cup.
Land of Passion: Honouring Morocco's abiding passion for football, this last section of the Pavilion is sure to delight football fans. The display follows the nation's football history from its early clubs to its outstanding achievement in Qatar 2022 and its ongoing preparations to host the FIFA World Cup in 2030.
