In the UN E-Government Development Index (EGDI) 2024, Qatar rose from 78th to 53rd rank out of 193 nations, demonstrating impressive development. This composite index, released by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, assesses the global advancement of e-governments as well as the effectiveness of governments in using e-services to enhance the lives of people and businesses.
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has executed 29 integrated projects spanning six primary pillars in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE), the National Planning Council (NPC), the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), and other governmental organisations. The goal is to place Qatar at the top of the index by 2030, in keeping with the goals of the Digital Agenda 2030, which aims to create a cutting-edge, sustainable digital infrastructure and accomplish a thorough digital transformation that improves the effectiveness and efficiency of online services in Qatar.
This accomplishment also represents the continuous work of MCIT to enhance the nation's digital infrastructure and increase the effectiveness of its telecommunications system.
