NewsIn order to provide cargo customers with an improved product offering and facilitate the achievement of operational synergies, Qatar Airways Cargo and MASkargo, the cargo airline and subsidiary of Malaysia Aviation Group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further strengthen their long-standing relationship as oneworld partners. This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) comes after the expanded codeshare agreement that Malaysia Airlines and Qatar Airways inked in 2022 in order to provide its passengers with more connectivity.
By means of this tactical collaboration in cargo business, the two cargo airlines will take advantage of each other's fleet size and network advantages to expand cargo offers.
Customers of MASkargo will have access to the vast worldwide network of Qatar Airways Cargo, while customers of Qatar Airways Cargo will have access to the expanding APAC market, which includes new destinations and more capacity in current stations.
In order to service the integrated network, the airlines will also be able to strategically use both hubs, Hamad International Airport (DOH) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL). The anticipated expansion of Qatar Airways' cargo handling capabilities at its new and expanded cargo terminal in Doha also makes this agreement possible.
Additionally, the expansion plans of the two airlines are similar. Qatar Airways Cargo is the first customer of the Boeing 777-8 freighter, having bought 34 of the aircraft and having options for an additional 16.
