Qatar Airways Cargo transported 2,800 tonnes of flowers from Kenya and South America

During the season, 2,800 tons of flowers—or 42 million fresh-cut red roses—were flown from South America and Kenya by Qatar Airways freight, the top air freight carrier in the world.

Nearly 1,600 tonnes of red roses were shipped by the airline from Nairobi via its regular flights and charters. It also transported about 1,200 tonnes from Bogota and Quito to important markets in Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and Amsterdam.

In the past two weeks, the cargo carrier has run nine (9) more Boeing 777 charters from Nairobi and ten (10) more charters from Quito in addition to its regularly scheduled passenger-and-cargo flights. This was done to accommodate the increased demand at this busy time of year.

The cargo carrier's cutting-edge Boeing 777 freighter, which is a major contributor to on-time performance, is used for both freighter and charter operations.

The carrier guarantees a flawless cool chain for all flowers delivered on its flights from origin, guaranteeing their timely and fresh arrival, thanks to its revolutionary Fresh product.
