Qatar Airways to buy 20 more 777-9 aircraft at the Fanborough Airshow in Britain

Boeing and Qatar Airways announced that the airline had placed an order for 20 more 777-9 aircraft, bringing the total number of 777X aircraft ordered by the carrier to over 100. The renowned airline now has sixty 777-9 passenger aircraft on order and assisted in the launch of the 777X program. Qatar Airways reached an agreement to buy 20 more new planes at the Farnborough Airshow in Britain. In addition, 34 of the next-generation cargo jets are on order from Qatar Airways, and it is the first client of the 777-8 Freighter.

The 777X program aims to redefine efficiency, environmental performance, and passenger experience using cutting-edge technology from the 787 Dreamliner and the well-liked Boeing 777 series. With a capacity of 426 people in a normal two-class configuration and a range of 7,295 nautical miles (13,510 km), the 777-9 is the biggest aircraft in the family and will let operators seize new development prospects.

With a roomier interior, improved humidity, a quieter cabin, and more natural light, the 777-9 will provide passengers with a new level of comfort. Boeing started certification flight testing for the aircraft earlier this month.

Qatar Airways has twelve 787 Dreamliners and 25 737 MAX aircraft on order in addition to the 777X series. According to Boeing's 2024 Commercial Market Outlook, within the next 20 years, twin-aisle aircraft, including the 777X and 787 Dreamliner, would account for 44% of the fleet operated by Middle Eastern carriers in the area.
