Qatar Career Development Center has set plans to expand its ‘My Career-My Future’ programme

Qatar Career Development Centre (QCDC), established by Qatar Foundation (QF), has announced intentions to extend its 'My Career-My Future' initiative, which provided high school students with the chance to plan their futures by working in genuine work environments. Shaheen Hamad Al Sulaiti, Senior Career Programmes and Services Officer at QCDC, stated that plans are in the works to recruit more students from all schools and engage with a greater number of businesses.

The 'My Career-My Future' programme, which aims to provide high school students with the opportunity to explore a variety of industries and work environments across Qatar, stimulates creativity and fosters self-reliance among students by giving them the opportunity to experience a real work environment at a participating organisation of their choice.

This experience will provide students with significant insights into the various jobs available within these organisations, the skills required for each, and a realistic idea of what to expect in their particular sectors.

Students can pick from a variety of groups through the curriculum. These, in turn, provide hands-on experience in a variety of fields, including but not limited to medicine, aviation, media, filmmaking, agricultural engineering, banking, social work, and education.

As per Al Sulaiti, 'My Career-My Future' has been a core programme for QCDC due to its significant relevance and exceptional effect.  The programme saw a 50% increase in the number of students; and the five-day event allowed the students to assess the chosen profession matching their skills and potential, gaining an in-depth understanding of what the job entails and to what extent it aligned with their academic background, as stated by Al Sulaiti.

The 'My Career-My Future' course at QCDC is offered in Arabic for high school pupils aged 14 to 18.
