Qatar government implemented various measures to protect citizens from heat-related illnesses and raise awareness

NewsThe Qatari government has taken seeral steps with the arrival of summer to safeguard its population from heat-related ailments. It is also spreading awareness on social media. As temperatures soar between 41 and 48 degrees Celsius, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and the Ministry of Labour (MoL) are actively educating the public on the know-hows to minimise heat stress. This information is based on data from the Qatar Meteorological Department.
On its social media accounts, the MoL posted recommendations encouraging employees to take regular breaks, eat light meals, avoid caffeine- and sugar-filled beverages, and drink cold water every fifteen minutes. The association was emphasised by the MoPH, which also emphasised the significance of consistent water consumption.
One of the government's proposals is Ministerial Resolution No. 17 of 2021, which forbids outdoor labour from 10 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. starting on June 1 and ending on September 15, 2024. To efficiently handle the heat, medical professionals advise drinking plenty of water, avoiding smoking and caffeine, eating light meals, and dressing in loose, light-colored clothing.
