Qatar has the fastest mobile internet speed in the world in May 2024

According to Ookla's Speedtest Global Index Rankings report, Qatar has the world's fastest mobile internet in May 2024. In May of this year, the median download speed in Qatar was 329.37 Mbps, with an upload speed of 25.36 Mbps.

Qatar has been repeatedly recognized for its remarkable performance, ranking first on Ookla's Speedtest Global Index for mobile broadband speeds in February, March, and April of this year.

According to Speedtest data, mobile speeds far surpassed Wi-Fi, with 14 airports having faster median downloads on mobile than the fastest Wi-Fi airport. "Hamad International Airport in Qatar had the fastest median download speed over mobile on our list at 442.49 Mbps during first quarter of 2024," according to it.

HIA has been named the World's Best Airport 2024 by the World Airport Awards, which will be held on April 17, 2024, at Passenger Terminal EXPO in Frankfurt.

It has also received honors for the World's Best Airport Shopping and the Best Middle Eastern Airport.

Following the FIFA World Cup 2022, the first in the Middle East and a pioneering global football competition to be backed by 5G networks, Qatar hosted an expected 1.5 million supporters for the 18th edition of the Asian Football Confederation's (AFC) Asian Cup, which took place from January 12 to February 10, 2024.

Qatar's stadiums provided world-class 5G network performance.

Throughout the tournament, we tracked six stadiums with a median download speed of at least 600 Mbps.

The Ahmed bin Ali Stadium ranked first with a speed of 964.33 Mbps.

Superior network capabilities dramatically improved web browsing and real-time online services.

The strong download rates paired with ultra-low latency, less than 34 ms throughout the stadiums, indicate that fans encountered minimal lag when streaming, video calling, or gaming online. The web browsing experience over 5G was outstanding, with webpage load times ranging from 1.0 to 1.4 seconds.

Qatar was well-prepared for the AFC Asian Cup, having previously hosted the FIFA World Cup in 2022. 5G is transforming live event experiences, making them more engaging and participatory.
