Qatar makes significant strides in its ambitious plan to integrate personalized medicine into its national healthcare strategy

The Personalised Medicine Coalition (PMC) featured Qatar's ongoing efforts to develop personalised medicine in their monthly landscape analysis published in their May/June 2024 edition. Building on this acknowledgement, Qatar is advancing rapidly in its comprehensive plan to include personalised medicine into national healthcare policy, with the goal of enhancing population well-being and bolstering economic development. Officials from Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) stressed the importance of personalised medicine in the nation's National Vision 2030 at a recent briefing to PMC. 

One essential group that works to advance and promote personalised medicine is the Personalised Medicine Coalition (PMC). It brings together medical professionals, researchers, patient organisations, and business executives to advance innovation, shape public opinion, and improve patient outcomes via individualised care. 

Precision medicine, often known as personalised medicine, is a branch of medicine that provides treatment to specific individuals based on their genetic composition, way of life, and surroundings. It strives to develop more exact and effective treatment strategies, enhancing results and minimising side effects while taking these particular characteristics into account. Ever with the announcement of its National Vision 2030, Qatar has demonstrated a strong dedication to personalised medicine. The Centre for Clinical Precision Medicine and Genomics at HMC, which is now Qatar's top supplier of specialised healthcare services, was established this year as a result of this commitment. This centre will be a key component of Qatar's healthcare system, advancing the country's objectives for personalised treatment.
