Qatar Museums announced permanent changes to the opening hours of its key cultural institutions

Qatar Museums (QM) has declared weekly closures for one day and permanent modifications to the hours of operation of its major cultural institutions, including longer hours every Thursday. Enhancing public access, encouraging nighttime programming, and guaranteeing the best possible care and upkeep of the collections are the goals of the modifications. 

With effect from July 1, 2024, the following institutions will include the new modifications: Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum (QOSM), the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), and the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ). 

With the increased opening hours, locals, tourists, and citizens will have more chances to take in Qatar Museums' extensive collection of artwork, temporary exhibits, and public programmes, among other arts and cultural offerings.

To guarantee that the highest standards be maintained without interfering with the visitor experience, in addition to the longer hours, a one-day closure each week will be instituted for the purpose of conducting necessary maintenance work, staff training, and the installation of new exhibits. These downtimes are essential to maintaining the calibre and authenticity of our holdings as well as to creating fresh, captivating experiences for the general audience.

All pertinent institutions will be closed to the public on the first day of Eid Al Fitr and the first day of Eid Al Adha each year, in addition to QM's other holiday closures. This will allow staff members to commemorate these significant holidays with their families.
