Qatar Museums extended an invitation to mid-career artists residing in GCC countries to participate in annual public art open call

NewsThrough its Annual Intervention, a public art open call, Qatar Museums (QM) invited mid-career artists who live in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, both nationals and non-nationals, to submit their creative projects that breathe life into shared spaces. According to a statement from QM, the Annual Intervention open call invites artists to suggest site-specific and/or community-specific public artworks that integrate placemaking ideas. Placemaking is an innovative method of using public art to improve people's quality of life in a community.
Qatar Museums hopes to inspire ordinary areas with joy, connection, and significance by transforming the common into the extraordinary through the Annual Intervention. The goal of this project is to improve Qatar's urban environment.
Selection criteria: artists must be in the middle of their careers and capable of completing the suggested project; Artists residing in the GCC region are eligible to apply (applicants must have a valid residence permit); The suggested project needs to be developed in the area or locally; The suggested project ought to be customized for a particular location and/or include the community; Applications that are full and contain all needed data will be given consideration.
Past assignments include Dar Al Tayor by Bachir Mohamad and Shelter by Marco Bruno and Michael Perrone. Proposals must be submitted by July 15, 2024.
