Qatar is participating in the 7th Arab Housing Conference entitled “Towards Smart Sustainable Cities that Achieve Quality of Life”, on the sidelines of the 39th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Reconstruction (CAMHR). Assistant Undersecretary for Social Affairs at the Ministry of Social Development and Family Ghanem bin Mubarak Al Kuwari headed Qatar’s delegation to the conference and the CAMHR.
The League of Arab States said in a statement that the 7th Arab Housing Conference will present pilot experiences, projects and best practices for participating Arab countries to keep abreast of technological developments and mechanisms for planning smart and sustainable cities.
It also aims to present new smart building technology, infrastructure, real estate development and information technology, the Arab League added.
The three-day conference also addresses the role of governments in improving the quality of life for people by highlighting the best experiences of smart and sustainable cities, establishing quality of life standards in light of making cities more sustainable and competitive and meeting the demand for adequate housing, as well as meeting needs of current and future generations.
The 39th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Reconstruction is scheduled to adopt the recommendations of the 7th Arab Housing Conference, and to choose the poster and logo for Arab Housing Day 2023, in addition to discussing cooperation with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, signing a memorandum of understanding between the two sides, discussing the progress made in following up the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the implementation plan of the Arab Strategy for Housing and Sustainable Urban Development, and cooperating with Arab, regional and international organizations and relevant Arab federations.
