According to Numbeo, an online crowdsourcing database frequently utilised by international news organisations, Qatar was ranked as the second safest country in the world this year, only behind the United Arab Emirates.
The safety index developed by Numbeo took into account a number of factors, such as the rate of property crimes and theft, the safety of solo strolling, and crime levels.
Impressively low scores were obtained by Qatar in terms of crime rates, auto theft, house invasions, physical attacks, and drug-related offences. It received excellent ratings for safety both during the day and at night, which is indicative of the comfortable atmosphere that enables locals to stroll freely throughout the city and let their kids play in parks and playgrounds without fear, regardless of their gender or country.
In light of the influence of safety on travel, Qatar Tourism reported a record-breaking four million tourists in 2023. The first quarter of 2024 saw 1.6 million more arrivals than the same period in 2023, according to the 'Tourism Sector Performance Q1 2024' report. This represents a 40% increase in tourists.
