Qatari student team will participate in Huawei ICT Competition Middle East Regional Finals 2022

Qatari student team will participate in the Huawei ICT Competition Middle East Regional Finals 2022 organised by Huawei Technologies Co. in Muscat, Oman, from December 20 to 22, 2022. The team comprises three students from Qatar University, Community College of Qatar (CCQ) and Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), under the patronage of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE). 

This year's competition will feature 15 teams representing 11 countries across the Middle East and Central Asia, aimed at nurturing ICT talents to contribute towards preparing the next generation of ICT leaders for the digital economy. A total of 45 students will compete in the finals from an initial entry of 19,231 students from 472 universities and colleges across the region. Participants have undergone a preliminary competition and training enablement followed by a national exam held recently in Huawei’s offices in each participating country.

Huawei cooperated with MoEHE, along with the pioneering technological universities, such as Qatar University, Community College of Qatar and HBKU to organise the competition of the current year in the participating countries. A high-level training was provided to the participants through hiring experts from Huawei under the supervision of academics from the universities, prior to moving to the final qualifiers that include a practical testing for six hours, in order to determine the winners in the competition with its various segments, who will be qualified for the participation in the global finals of the competition, which is scheduled to be held in Shanghai next year.

The Huawei ICT Competition, launched in 2017,  has witnessed the participation of over 75,000 students across the Middle East and, today has become one of Huawei’s most influential competitions. Through the Huawei ICT Competition, Huawei aims to provide students with a platform to compete healthily and exchange ideas, thus enhancing their ICT knowledge and practical skills and increasing their ability to innovate by using new technologies and platforms.
