The first-ever book-borrowing station in Qatar has been created by the Qatar National Library (QNL), enabling patrons in Al Khor to conveniently browse and check out books.
The project is a major milestone in the Library's continuous efforts to advance accessibility and literacy and bring QNL services closer to the community. It is essentially a library in miniature.
The book-borrowing kiosk is completely free for members and functions similarly to a vending machine. As at the Library itself, borrowers are able to choose up to six books at a time. The initial station, which is the first of several planned installations throughout Qatar, is situated next to the main entrance on the ground floor of Al Khor Mall.
By simply swiping their card or entering their membership number and password, library members can check out the station's catalog and choose the book they want to borrow. The available book collection will be updated frequently to give users a varied and engaging reading experience. For added convenience, the service is offered throughout regular mall hours.
