NewsThe Ministry of Municipality land in the Industrial Zone designated for commercial activity has had its yearly rental value lowered from QR100 to QR10 per square metre as part of an endeavour to encourage the growth of the national economy. Ministerial Decision No. 123 of 2024 was issued by Municipality Minister H E Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah. Its goal is to lower the rent for land plots in the Industrial Area under the Ministry's control compared to the rental rates in the previous ministerial decision.
Upon its publication in the Official Gazette, the ministerial decision will come into effect the next day. With regard to commercial, industrial, logistical, or worker housing, the decision seeks to encourage any beneficial activity conducted on the grounds of the Industrial Area under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Municipality. It states that the rental value of land allotted for commercial use will be reduced by 90%, from QR100 to QR10 per square metre yearly.
In addition, the yearly rental value of lands with an industrial licence was reduced from QR10 to QR5 per square metre, and the value of lands designated for logistics projects was reduced from QR20 to QR5 per square metre.
The Minister of Municipality stated in a statement that the decision to lower the rental value of the Ministry's Industrial Area lands is in line with the Third National Development Strategy 2024–2030's goals and the Ministry's recently launched strategy.
As part of the nation's continued efforts to realise the Qatar National Vision 2030, he added, the project aims to achieve sustainable economic growth, strengthen market procedures, and boost the competitiveness of local products.
According to the new decision, contracts for Industrial Area lands affiliated with the Ministry of Municipality must be signed and will be valid for 25 years, beginning on the date the leased land is received. After that time, the rental value may be reviewed every five years, beginning on the date the ministerial decision is put into effect. The Municipality Minister may reevaluate this value once this term has passed.
