NewsQatar's economy, which is among the fastest-growing in the GCC, is well-positioned to see strong development in the marine and logistics sectors. This growth will be aided by steady increases in port activity. Qatar is also well-aware of its National Vision 2030 objectives.
In an effort to further stimulate these industries, a brand-new event called Seatrade Maritime Qatar is scheduled for February 4-5, 2025, at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel. The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of Qatar and its rapidly expanding status as a major maritime centre on the global shipping map.
Seatrade Maritime and Founding Strategic Partner Mwani Qatar will collaborate to arrange the event.
With a focus on growing manufacturing, tourism, logistics, education, health, food and agriculture, financial services, information technology, and digital services in addition to future clusters around critical technologies and national assets, the objective is to achieve average annual real non-hydrocarbon growth of 4% through 2030.
1323 ships made port calls at Qatar's three ports in the first half of 2024, according to Mwani Qatar. In addition, 931,465 tonnes of bulk and general cargo, 55,944 RORO vehicle units, 358,201 livestock heads, and 171,158 tonnes of building materials were sent into the ports.
Additionally, Mwani Qatari ports handled 706,983 20-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containers during the first half of the year, a 12 percent increase over the same period the previous year.
With growth predicted to continue, Seatrade Maritime Qatar will examine how foreign businesses may conduct business in Qatar, and Qatari enterprises will seek to increase their profile on the world scene by presenting joint venture prospects with other local businesses.
