Twenty-eight local farms, six companies specialising in poultry, meat and dairy, and nurseries, as well as shops selling traditional food are taking part in this year's festival seventh edition of the Mahaseel Festival. The festival offers different pavilions of various high quality local agricultural and food products at competitive prices. The festival witnesses a large turnout in the morning and evening. It is located at the southern side of the Katara Cultural Village, and is open from 9am to 9pm. The shop owners expressed their gratitude to Katara for its keenness to support the local agricultural products and its great efforts in continuing this festival.
It has brought together farm owners in one place with what Qatari farms produce and gives the consumers an opportunity to choose products and compare between them, and the diversity of products saves visitors time and effort. The festival has attracted a large crowd of different nationalities, and they expressed their happiness with this festival, where they enjoy obtaining the best and finest agricultural products, in addition to the presence of entertainment and educational workshops for children.
Ali Ahmed Al Kaabi, owner of the Global farm, said: “Our participation in this festival was from its first launch, and what distinguishes this festival is that the produce comes to the shops an hour or two after they are picked, and this is of course what the consumer is looking for.”
“The participants appreciated the efforts made by Katara in supporting local agricultural production, whether by spreading the culture of consuming the local products or by providing the opportunity for farm owners to introduce their products and also support their efforts in developing their products and overcoming the difficulties they face. This is what the Farmers Forum will do with this valuable gesture which will have a very positive impact on agricultural production in the state,” he added.
Mahaseel, over the years, has become an ideal marketing platform, in which the finest crops and fresh Qatari agricultural products produced by Qatari companies and the yields of national farms are presented in addition to sheep meat, poultry, birds, nurseries, flowers and ornamental plants for home gardens.
