Uber has announced the availability of Uber Teens Accounts in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Jordan. The new tool is intended to assist families on the go by allowing parents or guardians to ask kids (aged 13-17) to create a specialized Uber account that will allow teens to request their own rides while maintaining parental monitoring and important safety elements incorporated into the experience.
A parent or guardian can invite their teen to create an Uber account via their Family Profile on the app. The adolescent will be given a link to download the app, establish a new teen account, and complete the essential safety onboarding process. Following that, teenagers can begin requesting vacations on their own.
Safety Features:
Live trip and delivery tracking: To keep parents informed, the app provides real-time updates and live trip tracking anytime their adolescent seeks a ride. Additionally, for teen outings, parents will receive the driver's identity, car information, and preferred drop-off location so they know exactly where their teen is going and who is driving.
PIN Verification: Before a youngster gets in the car for a journey, they will be asked to provide their driver with a unique PIN. Drivers will be unable to begin the trip until they enter the correct code into their app, adding an extra degree of security to ensure teens get into the appropriate car with the right driver.
RideCheck: Sensors and GPS data are utilized to determine whether a ride deviates from its intended path, comes to an abrupt halt, or ends prematurely. If something like this happens, the Uber app will notify both the teen and the driver to ensure they are safe. RideCheck will be tuned to be more sensitive during teen journeys.
Audio Recording available on trips:
Uber's Audio Recording function allows users to record audio of their trip immediately through the app and keep the files on the device.
Automatically encrypting them so that no one - not the driver, not the rider or parents, and not Uber - can listen back to the recording.
Expanded communication: Parents and guardians will be able to contact their teen’s driver at any time during a trip.
Only highly rated, experienced drivers: Only drivers who have passed local screening and background check requirements and are highly-rated and experienced will be able to receive trip requests from teen account holders. Drivers can choose to opt-out of receiving teen trips at any time.
Uber Teens is designed to give families added flexibility when they’re on the go without compromising on safety and is now available across the UAE, KSA, Qatar and Jordan.
