The Gulf Organization for Research & Development (GORD) recently awarded Vodafone Qatar a 4-star Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) Design & Build grade for the interior fitout of its headquarters office space in Lusail, marking a significant milestone.
This outstanding accomplishment demonstrates Vodafone Qatar's dedication to promoting sustainability by encouraging creative ideas and establishing standards for the sector.
GORD sustainability experts conducted a comprehensive and in-depth screening procedure at Vodafone Qatar's offices prior to certification. An energy-efficient thermal envelope at the company's headquarters ensures optimal indoor comfort while reducing energy usage. Additionally, the building has a smart LED lighting system that maintains low lighting power density and has remote monitoring and dimming capabilities.
Energy recovery and air quality are also prioritized. A Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS) and state-of-the-art Energy Recovery Units (ERUs) control fresh air intake and minimize energy loss, lowering the environmental impact without sacrificing ventilation. Low-flow water taps and separate water meters on every floor, however, demonstrate Vodafone Qatar's commitment to resource conservation and careful consumption monitoring.
Vodafone Qatar's selection of building materials demonstrates its dedication to sustainable sourcing. About 26 percent of major materials are purchased locally, which boosts the local economy and lowers emissions associated with transportation. The company's commitment to waste reduction is further supported by the fact that 11% of the materials used contain recycled content. Timber products certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) further demonstrate Vodafone Qatar's commitment to ethical material selection.
