1,044 applications have been submitted for the "1000 Opportunities" programme, giving small and medium-sized businesses the chance to improve their goods and services and raise their level of competitiveness in the Qatari market.
By December 2022, the government of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) had received 713 applications for the programme; as of right now, 1044 had been submitted, the government said.
The 1000 chances programme is an electronic platform that enables local investors to see the chances given by significant multinational corporations in various areas, according to a social media post from the ministry. It also stated that in only two years, contracts worth more than QR1.725 billion were signed thanks to collaboration with eight businesses in the areas of public services, communications, general contracting, food distribution, and general contracting.
The programme expands the private sector's potential and strengthens ties between Qatar's governmental and private sectors. Participating companies in the project include General Electric, Power International, Ooredoo, Alshaya Group, CCC Contracting, Lulu Hypermarket, Snoonu, and Talabat. By encouraging localization, improving service providers' efficiency, and localising supply chains, this approach helps to create an appealing environment.
The national ambition also makes it more necessary to rely more on domestic goods, particularly considering Qatar's keen desire in growing its industrial sector. By increasing the productivity of service providers, localising supply chains, and boosting domestic product manufacturing, the "1,000 Opportunities" programme seeks to lower imports and increase self-sufficiency.
The event emphasised the ministry's dedication to supporting business and motivating its proactive participation in the nation's endeavours to uphold and market Qatari goods. The project also seeks to raise the productivity of the country's industry in a number of different sectors.
