10th edition of AgriteQ 2023 begins tomorrow; over 675 exhibitors from 55 countries

NewsThe 10th Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ) 2023 will begin tomorrow with the participation of over 675 exhibitors from 55 countries. The exhibition is being held at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC). It will provide a strategic platform for exploring new horizons for the advancement of the Qatari agricultural sector as the backbone of food security, which comes at the forefront of strategic priorities to achieve self-sufficiency.
The five-day event from March 15 to 19, organised by the Ministry of Municipality in an area of 29,000 sqm, will also feature FoodteQ showcasing the latest food products, a vegetable market with the participation of 110 farms and a honey and dates market among other many attractions.
An associated conference will be held to exchange information, expertise and scientific data in food security, agriculture, livestock and fisheries. The announcement was made in a press conference held at the headquarters of the Ministry yesterday.
“The exhibition will host over 675 exhibiting companies from the agricultural, food and livestock sectors including 523 companies from out of Qatar,” said Chairman of Organising Committee of AgriteQ 2023 Eng Mohammad Ali Al Khouri while addressing the press conference.
Al Khouri who is also Director of Public Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality said that over 55 countries will participate in the exhibition, 30 of which will participate with pavilions while the rest participate through their companies, embassies and commercial offices in Doha.
He said that the exhibition will also feature vegetable market with the participation of 110 local farms offering fresh fruits and vegetables.
“A honey and dates market will offer quality produce in large quantity. The food industries zone ‘Foodteq’ will showcase the latest agricultural products and food packaging and processing machines,” said Al Khouri. This year, he said, the exhibition also witnesses the holding of daily cooking shows, in which some of the most important and famous chefs in Qatar participate in preparing a wide range of traditional Qatari dishes using local products.
Al Khouri said that Veterinary Products Zone (VeteQ), a platform specialised in veterinary health, will introduce a wide range of veterinary services, equipment and products for livestock, poultry and other species.
He noted that this edition is a continuation of the success of the previous sessions, which witnessed a remarkable local and international presence, as the exhibition is a direct gateway to accessing the latest global technological innovations that support the national trend towards expanding agricultural production to meet the local demand for food products.
Al Khouri said that this is in accordance with the objectives of the ‘Comprehensive Plan for Food Security’, which represents a comprehensive framework for improving the level of self-sufficiency according to best practices and the latest agricultural and food technologies.
Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee of AgriteQ 2023 Youssef Khalid Al Khulaifi said that Qatar make remarkable achievements in terms of developing the agricultural sector, in light of the insightful vision and wise directives of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
