Residents holding a valid driving license from any of the GCC countries do not need to register for driving courses to obtain a license in Qatar.
First Lieutenant Mohammed Al-Amri from the General Directorate of Traffic confirmed that driver's license holders from GCC countries can register for the direct test to obtain their driver's license.
Speaking to Qatar TV about the traffic procedures provided by the "License Department", he added that for citizens of the GCC, their license can be converted into a Qatari driving license immediately.
According to the traffic rules, those with a valid driving license from one of the GCC countries visiting relatives or coming here for tourism can drive in Qatar for up to 3 months from the date of their entry into the country. Proof of date of entry into Qatar must be provided on request, so it is essential that drivers carry their passport or entry visa details with them at all times.
