Akasa Air will launch international service from Mumbai to Doha on March 28. Akasa Air will start its first international service within two years of its operations. From March 28, 2024, Akasa Air will operate four non-stop flights a week connecting Mumbai with Doha, increasing air connectivity between Qatar and India, the airline said in a statement.
Following its stated goal of becoming one of the top 30 airlines in the world by this decade, its foray into Qatar marks the next phase of growth, Akasa Air founder and CEO Vinay Dubey said.
The airline, which started flying on August 7, 2022, currently operates 23 Boeing 737 Max aircraft. Last month, the airline placed an order for 150 Boeing 737 Max aircraft. In 2021, Akasa Air placed an initial order for 72 Boeing 737 Max aircraft, followed by an order for 4 Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft in June 2023.
The launch of operations in Doha is in line with the Qatar Tourism Strategy 2030, which aims to make the country the fastest-growing tourism destination in the Middle East by 2030.
