Al Hosh Gallery has announced seeking applicants to take part in a brand-new, massive art project called the Promenade for the future Al Maha Island.
Al Maha Island, a much-anticipated leisure and tourism destination in Lusail, is expected to open ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.It is anticipated that the island will draw more than 1.5 million tourists to Qatar annually.
It entails painting a 5 km-long road in the island. The project is anticipated to be completed between August 15 and October 15.
To apply for participation in the initiative, artists from Qatar and other countries may submit an open call from the gallery. The Promenade initiative will choose a handful of artists to take part. They will be given the paint and equipment necessary to paint the road. Their names will also be listed on the gallery's social media channels as participants in the Promenade initiative. All artists will receive a certificate at its conclusion.
The project is part of a larger effort to emphasize Qatar's aesthetic side by putting creative works into action that strengthen public art initiatives there and help turn streets into places worth visiting for tourists.
Al Maha Island includes major attraction hubs, including luxury dining experiences and world-class leisure and entertainment. The world-class project is led by Estithmar Holding subsidiary Estithmar Ventures and IHG, in collaboration with Qatari Diar and Qatar Tourism.
