Al-Mujadilah Centre and Mosque for Women was inaugurated to serve Muslim women of all ages and backgrounds

NewsA centre and mosque that will serve Muslim women of all ages and backgrounds was opened by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the founder of Al-Mujadilah and the chairperson of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development.
Her Highness established the "Al-Mujadilah Centre and Mosque for Women" with the goals of empowering Muslim women to embrace their Islamic identity, promoting a Muslim community in which all women are involved, their contributions and participation are valued, and their views and concerns influence modern Muslim thought and public debate.
Al-Mujadilah was opened with a ceremony that presented the center's mission, highlighted its architectural features, and featured a panel debate with academics, educators, and community people. Dignitaries, local authorities, Ministry of Awqaf personnel, and university scholars were present during the ceremony.
With classrooms, a library, meeting areas, a café, and gardens, 'Al-Mujadilah Centre and Mosque for Women is designed to honour the mosque's historical position as the centre of society. This communal centre for women will organise events and offer programming in both Arabic and English. Topics will include book clubs, training programmes, extended courses, seminars, and sessions on Islamic history, law, mental health, and relationships.
Al-Mujadilah hosts a community gathering on February 4, to welcome the public. On February 6, the institution's regular programmes will start. Women are also welcome to use the center's public spaces between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. without having to sign up for a programme.
