Children are invited to join the Child Mental Health Summer Camp with the theme “Energizing Senses through Play,” from July 16 to August 14.
The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) and Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Mental Health Service will be conducting the summer camp which is a short course. Children in the age group of 7 to 18 years can participate in this programme.
The programme will be conducted at the Learning Studio at the museum from 9am to 11am.
“During this month, experts in mental health will work closely with children to introduce activities through parent-child bonding that will develop new skills while reinforcing the old abilities, improving learning and communications skills, and becoming more confident and independent,” said NMoQ on Instagram.
The HMC team from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service will be conducting the programme. Languages that will be used are Arabic and English.
Among the activities that will be held are fun and creative workshops, circle time, yoga, social communications development, to name some.

Meanwhile, on July 16, NMoQ will hold a storytelling about “Issa.” This will take place at the Life on the Coast Gallery of the museum from 5pm to 6pm.
“An exciting afternoon for children to learn about the adventures of the age of pearl diving. Join our hero Issa in this tale discovering the age of pearl diving and the many adventures of marine life. Led by our library team, children will have the opportunity to participate in reading and drawing exercises as part of this activity,” said NMoQ.
And on July 23, Saturday, a workshop on pearling season will be held, at the Life on the Coast Gallery from 4pm to 6pm. “Annual summer trips to pearl beds were important events in the lives of the people of Qatar. Join this workshop to learn more about the effects they had on men, women and children,” it said.
At the end of the workshop, each participant will compose a ‘pop-up’ story under the supervision of the artist in charge.
Both storytelling and workshop are free to attend but registration is required through the museum’s website.
