The cruise ship 'AIDAprima' arrived at Doha Port on Tuesday, with 3,298 passengers and 1,010 staff members on her maiden trip of the 2023–2024 cruise season.
AIDAprima, which is owned and operated by AIDA Cruises and is registered under the Italian flag, is 300 metres long and 37.6 metres wide. One of the largest ships in AIDA Cruises' fleet, AIDAprima can accommodate over 3,300 guests with its 18 passenger decks and 1,643 cabins.
Eight ships are expected to make their first port call in Qatar out of the 81 cruise arrivals expected at Old Doha Port this season, according to Mwani Qatar.
In comparison to the previous year, there was a notable 151% rise in cruise tourists to the nation from December 2022 to March 2023, totaling 253,191 cruise visitors. During the 2022–2023 cruise season, Qatar received 54 calls in total—59% more than the previous year—from both transit and turnaround parties.
There is enough for up to 12,000 passengers per day at the new passenger terminal at Doha Port. A benefit of its advantageous position is that it puts tourists near some of the nation's most well-known sights.
