Marchitecture, an annual festival of architecture and urban design, is returning to Design Doha, a biannual event that aims to elevate the MENA region's design culture and highlight Qatar's extraordinary design environment on a worldwide scale. Marchitecture 2024, which is scheduled for March 28–30 at locations supplied by the Qatar Foundation, HBKU, and Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), intends to delve into the fascinating realm of Islamic architecture and its influence on the globe at large.
This three-day program, with the theme "Islamic Architecture and its Global Influence," provides a special chance for attendees to explore the rich fabric of Islamic architectural history and discover its elaborate designs and cultural relevance. Together with local architects Dr. Ali Abdulraouf and Marwan Al Baluchi, attendees will get up close and personal with some of the most famous mosques in Doha, which were created by renowned international architects like Ali Mangera, Ada Yvars, Fanos Panayides, and Simon Gathergole. Marchitecture 2024 works with prestigious partners to increase participants' exposure to high-quality, regional design. Qatar Creates, the Qatar Foundation, Msheireb Downtown, the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), and AIAS Qatar University are a few of the program's partners.
A panel discussion on "The Roots of Islamic Architecture: A Historical Perspective" will take place on the first day of the program, March 28, and will be followed by a tour titled "Harmony Unveiled: Exploring I.M. Pei's Muse" and networking opportunities. The MIA will host everything.
The Qatar Foundation - Education City Mosque Auditorium will host a panel discussion on March 29 titled "Contemporary Expressions: Fusion of Islamic and Global Architectural Styles," as well as a tour titled "Architectural Fusion Unveiled: A Tour of Qatar Foundation's Education City Mosque" and a networking and suhoor event.
Day 3: On March 30, there will be a keynote address at M7, Sky-Theater Msheireb Downtown Doha titled "Sustainability and Islamic Architecture: A Vision for Tomorrow," a tour called "Architectural Fusion Unveiled: A Tour of Msheireb Downtown Mosques" at Msheireb Downtown Doha, and networking and suhoor at Profiles Cafe.
Marchitecture, which was first introduced in 2018 by the Culture Pass of the Qatar Museum, has grown to become a leading source of architectural discovery in Doha. This year, Design Doha is in charge of putting together an extensive and immersive program that gives attendees a one-of-a-kind chance to interact with Doha's famous architecture.
