Doha Global South Health Policy Initiative was launched for countries in the Global South to address their healthcare challenges

NewsYesterday saw the opening of the Doha Global South Health Policy Initiative, which aims to provide a cooperative forum for the Global South's nations to address their healthcare issues and come up with workable solutions.
The initiative was launched in the presence of several dignitaries, including the Minister of Public Health, H E Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, the Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H E Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The launch was supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar.
The two-day meeting in Doha will define the overall strategy of the initiative with contributions from international experts, representatives of key Qatari stakeholders such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Health, the Qatar Fund for Development, Qatar University, and Hamad Bin Khalifa University, as well as representatives of low- to middle-income countries (LMICs).
The project seeks to assist in the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and address unmet healthcare needs in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) by fostering conversation and knowledge-sharing and providing both financial support and technical expertise.
