FIA Formula 2 Championship announced Lusail International Circuit as a new race venue for the first time

The FIA Formula 2 Championship, on Friday, confirmed Lusail International Circuit as a new race location for the first time, giving Qatari motorsport fans another pleasure. Formula 2, the major F1 support category event, kept its 14-round schedule by substituting Qatar for the race at Zandvoort, Netherlands. The festival will take place from November 29 to December 1. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem was delighted to welcome Qatar into the fold.

The eighth Formula 2 season will begin at the Bahrain International Circuit (February 29 to March 2) before moving to the Jeddah Corniche Circuit (March 7 to 9). The third round will be held in Melbourne, Australia, from March 22 to 24. The season will resume in Europe with back-to-back racing weekends at Imola, Italy (May 17–19) and Monte Carlo, Monaco (May 23–26). The action will continue in June at Barcelona, Spain (June 21–23), Spielberg, Austria (June 28–30), and Silverstone, UK (July 5–7).

The next round will be a doubleheader in Budapest, Hungary (July 19-21), followed by Round 10 in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium (July 26-28). Following a summer hiatus, the field will return to Monza, Italy (August 30 to September 1) before traveling to Baku, Azerbaijan (September 13 to 15).

The 13th round will be held in Doha, Qatar (November 29 to December 1), before ending at Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit (December 6 to 8). The new development has also pleased FIA Formula 2 CEO Bruno Michel. From October 6 to 8, the Lusail International Circuit will host the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix 2023.
