HE Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), expressed confidence in the readiness of Qatar's infrastructure for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. He said that work is underway to complete the rest of the projects relating to some roads that were delayed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and global economic fluctuations that many countries had to deal with.
A dialogue session that took place within the Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg, on Wednesday, heard Al Thawadi express his confidence that the other projects relating to the World Cup will be completed on schedule, and in accordance with the agenda prior to the start of the tournament.
He mentioned that efforts are underway to accommodate various housing requests during the tournament's activities at reasonable prices, especially since FIFA received 27 million requests for World Cup tickets, but only two million people have replied so far.
According to Al Thawadi, the major significance of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 lies in uniting people from all corners of the globe as a major and distinguished global event, emphasizing it will be an opportunity for everyone to celebrate football, encourage national teams, and discover Qatar’s rich culture in the context of respecting the customs of the country.
It was noted that the State of Qatar has made significant gains for the benefit of its workers, in addition to the approved laws that protect their rights, which made Qatar a pioneer in this field, contrary to what some claim, adding that USD 28 billion was allocated by Qatar to provide jobs for workers during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
