NewsDoha will host the Global Youth Interfaith & Intercultural Forum, Qatar 2023 from Feb 11 to 14. The forum, which is organised by Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) and A Common Word Among the Youth (ACWAY), comes under the slogan “Youth and Peace Building: Interfaith from Theory to Application”.
More than 60 young men and women from 42 countries, in addition to 20 male and female youth from Qatar, will be participating in the forum, which is being held at the headquarters of the Qatar Scouts and Girl Guides Association.
Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) H E Dr. Ibrahim Saleh Al Nuaimi said that Doha’s hosting of this youth forum reflects Qatar’s belief in the capabilities of youth, and their decisive role in shaping tomorrow, and for this reason the centre is always keen to involve them in all its activities, so that the culture of dialogue prevails among the new generation.
He added that Qatar has always been proactive in its initiatives in the field of dialogue and cultural and civilisational communication, which has earned it a prestigious global position. He said the objective of the forum, which includes various lectures, training courses and workshops, is to highlight the pivotal role of youth in stimulating coexistence, religious and cultural dialogue, and confronting extremism and intolerance.
He explained that this event represents an extension for the goals and vision of DICID with regard to the importance of involving young people in all international events and activities related to interfaith dialogue.
He pointed out that the centre decided that this forum should be entirely composed of young people to listen to their opinions and discussions, while the centre’s mission is limited to listening and debating with them, presenting workshops by academic professors and specialists, and transferring ideas and proposals to a higher level for decision-makers in order to support youth activities locally and globally. He also referred to the growing interest in youth issues at the global level, which prompted the centre to organise such an international event.
