According to Al Sharq Newspaper, Qatar's prestigious medical facility, Hamad General Hospital, would close for two years beginning in September. The stoppage is intended to allow for major repairs and enhancements, which will be carried out in stages to guarantee that outpatient clinics and operating rooms may continue to operate throughout the initial stage. To ensure ongoing medical treatment, inpatients will be temporarily moved to Aisha Al Attiyah Hospital and the Medical treatment and Research Centre.
The Hamad General Hospital development project, supervised by the Public Works Authority 'Ashghal,' as per Al Sharq, is critical to addressing maintenance needs because the hospital is one of the oldest within the Hamad Medical Corporation. The hospital's infrastructure will be rebuilt during the shutdown, and upgraded safety and fire prevention systems will be installed. The QAR4.1 billion development project has been in the works for five years and intends to improve and modernise the hospital's amenities.
Hamad General Hospital, founded in 1979, is a 603-bed hospital that provides a wide range of specialised medical services, including trauma, emergency medicine, paediatrics, critical care, specialised surgery, therapy, laboratory medicine, and radiology. As of now, Ashghal has not made any public announcements about the plans, leaving the public anxious for further information and updates on one of Qatar's most respected healthcare institutions' forthcoming revolutionary journey.
