Inaugural light festival "Luminous Festival" will end on March 2

The inaugural light festival in Qatar, called "Luminous Festival," opened on February 21 and has welcomed hundreds of guests every day in its first week of operation. These enormous figures attest to its imaginative and captivating sensory experience. This unique event, which has live characters, music, and parades, is attracting visitors of all ages. It allows them to explore many worlds as they move from one zone to the next. Some of the best local, national, and international designers and engineers have painstakingly chosen and created the installations on display during the festival. The Luminous Festival is taking place in Al Saad Plaza on Lusail Boulevard from 6 p.m. to midnight every day till March 2, 2024.

A few interesting installations at the festival include:

Limelight Projects a Gateway

The Luminous Festival's entrance is adorned with eye-catching projections that pique interest. They include abstract art, geometric forms, and wildlife artwork inspired by nature. With a tonne of speculative artwork, this installation is vibrant, active, and meant to entice people to the event.

Airena's Astronaut

As the name implies, the eight-meter-tall Astronaut installation is meant to represent an astronaut. Visitors may see amazing images of space from the astronaut's helmet, including clouds, sun, the moon, earth, and other atmospheric spheres. The Air Zone is where you can find the Astronaut.

Interactive Art Projection on a Firework Floor

The Interactive Firework Floor is based on the ground. By stepping on the display, visitors have the chance to engage with it. As one moves over the piece, bright fireworks shoot out of the ground, creating an entertaining display for onlookers who strive to "catch" the erratic fireworks sequences. The Fire Zone is where you'll find the Interactive Firework Floor.

Trumpet Flowers by Amigo & Amigo

Amigo & Amigo's "super-sized" trumpet blossoms are a representation of an audiovisual musical garden. With the use of interactive keys located around the forest, guests may independently "play" and create music from each 2.6-meter flower. International composers' scheduled musical compositions are on display in the Earth Zone show.

Atelier Susu's Evanescent

Through bubbles, the audiovisual Evanescent exhibit illustrates the transience and ephemerality of the act. The design was influenced by COVID-19, which made everything seem temporary and made people realise how important it is to cherish the present and live in the moment. As part of its "transient beauty," the interactive installation is composed of color-reflecting dichroic film that, when exposed to sunlight, produces rainbows. The intention of Atelier Susu is for those who visit this installation to consider their surroundings. The Water Zone is where Evanescent is situated.

Under the Sea by China Light Festival B.V.

"Under the Sea" is an exhibition made up of hundreds of pieces created by international artists who have united to promote ocean conservation. With the use of sub-zones like the Beach, the Open Ocean, the Deep Abyss, and the Arctic, the artwork depicts underwater biodiversity. The works are beautiful and amusing, but they also serve as a warning about the threats the ocean faces today. The ocean is a vast but finite resource. The Water Zone is home to Under the Sea.
