NewsA novel device aimed at reducing CO2 emissions and promoting sustainable practices was shown in Doha yesterday. It recycles workplace food waste into compost for soil. Launched in collaboration with Compocity, the Hungarian business that created the "robot," the Doha-based consultancy Kingdom Konsult (KK) created the indoor composting robot especially for offices.
On this occasion, the two entities also inked a memorandum of agreement to promote the new technology throughout Qatar and the region. Additionally, the partnership supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals agenda as well as Qatar National Vision 2030.
By the end of the year, KK intends to deploy about 100 devices, and it has ambitions to expand regionally into Greece, the Middle East, and the nations that make up the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The two companies said that by 2025–2026, they want to have deployed 500 devices, which they claimed could stop up to 4.8 million kilogrammes of CO2 emissions from aviation.
A week after the first processing, the recycled waste from the bot may be mixed into the soil for gardening and plantations. The odourless equipment is suitable for indoor usage in kitchens and workplaces.
