The Novel Week will be held from October 13–20, according to a recent announcement by the Cultural Village Foundation–Katara. The novel week is being held for the first time since it was established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) in 2021 based on the initiative presented by Katara to the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organisation (Alecso) in 2016 during the ceremony of the awarding of the 9th edition of the Katara Prize for Arabic Novel to 13 winners, primarily the published and unpublished novels, boys books, critical studies, and Qatari novels.
With involvement from major regional libraries as well as Qatari publishing businesses, Katara will host the country's first book fair on its grounds. Arabic publishing firms can take part in the next editions of the expo, which is anticipated to be held yearly concurrently with the book week.
Katara is committed to honouring a real person who had a contribution on the development of the Arab book during the week dedicated to the genre. Ihsan Abdel Quddous, a writer and novelist, has been chosen as this year's celebrity and will talk about his life story and his published books that have been made into films. Additionally, Katara is planning a number of activities and the awarding of prizes, and is scheduled to launch the Katara festival for Arabic novels next week at 3:30 pm.
