Katara features 250 pieces at the exhibition ‘Collectibles and Memories’

News Katara Cultural VillageGeneral Manager of Katara, Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, inaugurated the Collectibles and Memories exhibition on Sunday. H E Dr. Mohamed Saleh Al Sada, former Minister of Energy and Industry, and a large number of people, and the media were present in the exhibition held at Building 19 in Katara.
A large collection of collectibles of approximately 250 pieces, was displayed, by the hobbyist Khaled Jamal Al Ajmi, and the pieces varied between household and musical instruments and traditional clothing.
Dr. Al Sulaiti said: “The hobby of collecting collectibles is active among Qatari youth, who are very proud of the heritage of their fathers and grandfathers, and Katara encourages Qatari youth in all their interests.” He pointed out that Katara has diversity in its exhibitions, as it deals with all arts and interests from plastic art or photography, in addition to displaying rare or historical collectibles, adding that this diversity enriches the cultural scene and meets all interests.
Regarding his exhibition, Khaled Al Ajmi said: “The exhibition consists of many ancient pieces that were found in different times in the homes of the people of Qatar and used by parents and grandparents in the Qatari house. They include glass, boxes, old clothes, CD players, recorders, radios and pottery.”
He added, the idea of the exhibition is to preserve the beautiful Qatari heritage, enlighten the future generation and bring back memories for people who lived through this period.
