The third edition of the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival will be launched tomorrow at Katara Beach under the patronage of the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The festival, organised by the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, in cooperation with the Qatar Equestrian Federation and the Racing Club will run from February 1 to 11 with the participation of 18 countries.
The first day will witness the launch of the Arabian Peninsula Horse Championship, which will run until February 4; Horse Auction that will take place on February 6, and the Title Show will run from February 8 to 11.
The third edition of the festival presents a group of cultural events accompanying the event with more than 30 activities, including exhibitions, art workshops, competitions and live art shows. These activities are distributed on the Katara Corniche, as they include six artistic workshops, including handicrafts for horse work, cutting and pasting workshops, sewing horse dolls, papier-mâché, and a nail and thread workshop.
A live performance of a work of art in stained glass the size of a natural horse by the artist Tariq Maarkesh will also be held, where visitors to the festival will be able to follow the work throughout the days of the festival, in addition to the “Wheeling of Roses” event with the participation of 15 flower shops on Ibn Al Reeb Street, which will present in a wonderful and dazzling artistic manner that corresponds to the content of the festival.
