NewsThe Hamad International Airport's Central Concourse, which houses the ORCHARD indoor tropical garden, has been awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification, marking a noteworthy achievement in environmental sustainability for MATAR, the Qatar Company for Airports Operation and Management. The accreditation demonstrates the airport's dedication to ecologically friendly building methods and sustainability.
LEED certification is one of the most popular green building grading systems and a worldwide recognised indicator of environmental accomplishment. Buildings that satisfy strict environmental requirements in a number of areas, such as material selection, water use, energy efficiency, and air quality, are certified.
The Central Concourse, which houses ORCHARD, was intended to use 30% less energy and 55% less water overall. It was constructed as part of the Hamad International Airport's Phase A development plan. The major concourse of Hamad International Airport has joined a select group of airport terminals globally that have received comparable LEED certifications, as a result of its dedication to promoting environmental best practices.
