MCIT, in collaboration with Qatar National Bank (QNB), has announced the launching of the Unified E-Payment Gateway Project

The Unified E-Payment Gateway Project's first phase has been announced by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and Qatar National Bank (QNB). With the use of the new gateway, people and businesses may now pay for the e-services that the various national government agencies provide. The public and commercial sectors are working together effectively to support and facilitate the transition to electronic payments and enhance the user experience when dealing with digital government services, and this announcement is part of that collaboration.

The Unified E-Payment Gateway will meet all of the present and future e-payment requirements by providing a variety of payment methods including bank transfers, credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards via various payment channels, including the internet, mobile devices, and points of sale (POS). It will guarantee that users have a simple and efficient payment experience while completing a transaction. Government organisations will also gain a great deal from it, including lower operating costs as less resources will be needed to develop, run, and support e-payments. Furthermore, the gateway will support government organisations in quickly and effectively delivering their e-services.

In addition to settlement and report mechanisms, the first phase of the Unified E-Payment Gateway Project was launched concurrently with the Hukoomi Portal's Zakat Fund service. It featured credit card payment, debit card payment (NAPS), pre-paid card payment using Himyan cards, Apply Pay, and settlement and reporting mechanisms. By the end of Q1 2024, the project's subsequent phases will be introduced with additional capabilities like Google Pay, fast bank transfers, and other features that are in line with the newest advancements in online payment technology.
