Ministry of Transport is working to build the necessary infrastructures for Level 3 autonomous vehicles

The Ministry of Transport is trying to construct the infrastructure required for Level 3 autonomous cars, which are classified as conditionally automated and where the system can manage itself in the majority of driving conditions, by the Autonomous cars Strategy. In Level 3, the driver must still be prepared to take control if a system failure occurs. Rather, Level 3 automation is intended for jobs like lengthy highway journeys that don't call for a lot of intricate manoeuvring.

The Ministry of Transportation introduced the Autonomous Vehicles Strategy in September of this year to deliver intelligent and ecologically friendly transportation systems. The Autonomous cars Strategy calls for the implementation of a strategy to govern the terms and circumstances of utilising autonomous cars in Qatar during the next five years.

In order to approve the minimum technical specifications and safety standards of electric vehicles (EVs), the Ministry is currently studying the standards and specifications of EVs in collaboration with the relevant bodies. Additionally, the Ministry is establishing a centre for inspecting and verifying EVs' compliance with specifications and issuing the necessary approval certificates.
