NewsThe activation of the State of Qatar's trademark databases on the Global Brand Database platform of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) was announced by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI).
The ministry released a statement stating that interested parties may now search the database via the Global Brand Database (wipo.int) to find brands that are interesting to the public and private sectors and to search trademarks before registering.
This accomplishment comes after Qatar joined the Madrid Protocol, which attempts to provide trademarks worldwide legal protection through international registration. For companies and business owners in Qatar, it's a big step towards protecting their intellectual property and trademarks abroad.
In keeping with Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to create a strong, diversified, and investment-attractive economy, this project is in accordance with the Ministry's initiatives to strengthen intellectual property protection and provide openness in governmental processes.
