MoECC removes massive underwater waste from Sealine

Responding to reports by some environmental activists about the presence of seabed waste in the Sealine area, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) officials immediately took action and removed the waste from the waters.

The Ministry shared photos of the massive waste removed from the sea and calls on divers, beach and island goers, not to bring this type of waste to the seabed because of its impact on the quality of life in the marine environment, its dangerous impact on fish and other living creatures, and its distortion of the general landscape.

The cleaning operations will continue to ensure the safety of the marine environment, as these wastes have a negative impact on marine life, MoECC said on its Twitter account.

The Ministry stresses that it is forbidden to perform any marine activities, particularly for the purpose of working on the coral reefs without obtaining prior official approvals from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
