MoECC requests motorists to avoid driving over meadows to protect the local eco-system

NewsThe Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) has requested that motorists avoid driving over meadows in order to maintain the country's indigenous eco-system.
The Ministry stated on its X platform that driving over meadows is a criminal offense. Adherence to environmental rules and avoiding driving over meadows demonstrate understanding and major responsibility for our environment and its plants, as well as a dedication to their preservation.
According to Article 9, the infraction shall be penalized by imprisonment for a period not exceeding three months, a fine of not less than QR1,000 and not more than QR20,000, or both of these punishments.
Anyone who breaches any of the requirements of this law will be held accountable. If the offense is committed again, the penalty will be doubled. In all circumstances, the court will order the confiscation of the transport vehicles, machinery, and equipment used in the breach. Furthermore, the court shall require the offender to compensate the plant environment for the damages and losses caused by the offense.
