MoI urges preventing children aged under 10 from sitting in front seat of moving vehicles

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has issued a reminder to the public about the significance of protecting children under the age of ten by prohibiting them from sitting in the front seat of moving automobiles. On its X platform yesterday, the Ministry referred to Clause 3, Article 55 of the Traffic Law, which specifies that children under the age of ten are not permitted to sit in the front seats of a vehicle while it is in motion.

"Your vigilance not to allow children under the age of 10 to sit in the front seat of the vehicle while it is in motion enhances their safety," the minister stated.

Parents and guardians have been encouraged to adhere to these vital recommendations to guarantee the safety of their young passengers.

Using suitable child restraint devices, such as car seats or booster seats, and ensuring that children sit in the back seats of the vehicle, can considerably improve their safety while travelling.

To support these efforts, the Ministry of Public Health has appointed the Hamad International Training Center (HITC) of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) to oversee the Qatar Child Passenger Safety Program (QCPS), a nationwide initiative aimed at increasing children's safety in automobiles.

The programme is being implemented by a collaborative team of experts from various organizations, including the Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Interior, Traffic Department, Road Safety Committee, HMC, Sidra Medicine, Primary Health Care Corporation, ConocoPhillips, and Qatar University.
