In August, the Ministry of Labour (MoL) received 4,430 applications for new hires; 3,651 of them were accepted, while 779 were turned down. A total of 3,909 petitions to change the occupation were submitted; 3,847 of those requests were accepted, while 62 were denied.
This information was included in a MoL monthly statistics report for August 2023 that highlighted the most important data and statistics from the country's employment market. It also contains the findings of supervision inspections of companies that fall within the purview of labour law.
The bulletin states that there were 11,700 applications for work permit renewals in the year, 11,241 of which were approved, and 459 of which were rejected. In contrast, there were 878 applications for special work permits, including 529 for permit renewals, 98 for new issuances, and 251 for cancellations.
The Labour Inspection Department conducted intensive inspection campaigns in August to assess the degree of establishment compliance with the laws and ministerial directives governing the country's labour market. A total of 4,675 inspection visits were made in various regions, and this resulted in an alert to 624 companies to correct the violation, while the number of reports of controlling violations against companies reached a total of 1,077.
